Desirable WWII Nazi K98 Steyr SS Contract Rifle with Scarce Night Sight and Bayonet
This is a solid example of an early WWII "Steyr" reclaimed or reworked rifle. It is theorized that these rifles were actually early contract receivers that were provided to Steyr in late 1939/1940, that were assembled into complete rifles, for an early Wehrmacht or SS contract. It features a ramp front sight with the addition of a night sight attached to the barrel, marked "K98K" on the right side, tangent rear sight graduated to 200 meters, all blued parts with a cupped buttplate. The top of the receiver ring is unmarked with only the serial number on the left side and a "eagle / 359" Nazi proof on the right side. The left side receiver wall is marked "Mod.98" and around the breech end of the barrel is marked "660/122/39Si/" followed by three "eagle / WaA623" Nazi proofs. The bottom of the stock is marked with the "K" over skull over cross bones mark (Totenkampf), possible Concentration Camp assembled gun. The only numbered parts are the bolt, bolt shroud and safety, all other parts are unnumbered and unproofed. Complete with a brown leather sling and unmarked bayonet with serrated bakelite grip and metal scabbard.
