These rifles were the final version of the German Army's attempt to field a successful semi-automatic rifle during WWII which was based on the earlier G41 series and the Russian Tokarev rifle's gas system. This is an example of a mid-WWII production rifle manufactured by the Berlin-Lubecker manufacturing company that carries the wartime code of "duv". The left side of the rough forged receiver is marked with the "serial number, 8943e/G43/duv44" markings. It has the type two rough cast bolt carrier with the bolt latch on the right side and the cocking knob on the left, with the reinforcing web on top, with the sheet metal bolt cover. It is fitted with the correct laminated style wood stock and handguard. The right side of the stock has the double Waffenamt Eagle 214 proof with a small Eagle proof in the pistol grip. This model still retains the scope mounting rail on the right side and it is fitted with the rough cast G43 scope mount with the small Eagle 359 Waffenamt proof in the middle with the correct "fest" and "lose" markings on the lever and the front of the mount is marked with serial number (8482). The scope is a WWII German ZF4 model that is marked on the side "Gw ZF4/dow/ 38594", that was produced by the Czech company of Waffenwerke Opticotechna, Brunn . It is complete with one blued "aye" marked G43 magazine, the cleaning rod, unmarked leather sling, and the rubber eye cup on the end of the scope.
BBL: 22 1/2 inch round
Stock: laminated
Gauge: 7.92 mm Mauser
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 8943E
Condition: Excellent overall with 98% of the original blue/black finish overall with wear on the edges and high spots overall and along the receiver where the bolt cover rides. The stock and handguard are both in very fine condition with minimal handling overall, and both show an old light protective overcoat of varnish applied years ago. The markings are still visible. The scope and mount retains 95% of their original finish on the edges and high spots overall and the optics are a little cloudy. A nice example of a desirable WWII G43 sniper rifle.
