This is an example of a U.S. Navy Colt Model 1911 Automatic Pistol that was shipped to the Brooklyn Navy Yard as part of a lot of 500 pistols on 10 April 1912. Fitted with blade front and rounded notch rear sights, with the two line, two block address and patent marks on the left side of the slide with the circled Rampant Colt behind the serrations and "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. NAVY" (with serifs) on the right side. The frame bares Walter G. Penfield's "WGP" inspector mark near the correct early magazine catch, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the front left, and "No.1974" on the reverse. Fitted with a wide checkered hammer, long smooth trigger, short grip safety, smooth lanyard base mainspring housing and checkered grips with diamond patterns around the screws. Magazine is two-toned and unmarked with a lanyard base, and the barrel is marked "AG-1" and "P" on the left side. With a hand marked reproduction box.

Very good as refinished, with most of the period refurbished blue, showing a bright gray patina on the high edges and grip straps, a few hints of brown, and scattered handling marks. Sharp markings remain. Grips are good with some chipping and dents. Mechanically excellent.
