Desirable Third Type P.W. Porter Revolving Percussion Rifle

A rival to Colt's family of revolving longarms, the Porter Rifle used a vertically oriented turret cylinder and a side mounted hammer. No makers marks are visible on the exterior, with an offset rear sight configured for a left-handed shooter and a dovetail slot for a front sight. The serial number "1100" is marked on the cylinder, frame, lock plate, takedown catch, barrel and the loading lever. Normally not seen on the Third Type Porter, the loading lever is straight and mounted on a hinge on the frame. Smooth straight wrist stock, with sling swivels, a sliding catch for the lever, and a smooth flat buttplate.

Good, showing a mixed gray and brown patina overall, with mild spotting and handling marks. A section of a metal clip mounted to the left side of the frame has been cut away and a channel has been run through the top to accommodate the loading lever. Stock is good, with a bit of play and space in the wrist, mild dents and chips. Mechanically very good.
