Desirable Silver Banded Henry Derringer "Peanut" Sized Philadelphia Pocket Pistol with N. Curry Brothers (San Francisco, California) Agent Markings

In 1863, Nathaniel and John Curry inherited their father's business, operating as wholesalers and Deringer sales agents until 1886, when they sold the firm to Charles Ladd. Dovetailed German silver blade front and notch rear sights, with a "P" and "DERINGER/PHILADELA'' on the breech between silver bands, and "N.CURRY & Bro/SAN FRANCo CALa/AGENTS" on the top flat of the barrel. The Derringer marking is repeated on the lock, with scroll engraving on the tang, hammer, lock, trigger guard, reverse and accent pates, blossom designs on the escutcheons, pineapple finial, straight borders with scroll accents on the inscription shield and a zig-zag bordered buttplate. Checkered stock, with a smooth triangular tip inlay and a bird's head butt. Provenance: Gil Hebard Collection.

Very good plus. The barrel shows a mixed brown and gray color overall, with a few hints of the original streaked pattern, with a darker gray showing on the tang, lock and hammer. Stock is very good, with a thin crack extending from the reverse plate to the left side of the breech, light dents and scattered handling marks. Mechanically fine.
