Title: Desirable Shaman-Used "Rain Wands"
Description: Nigeria, Mumuye or Chamba people, a sheaf of long, forged-iron wires of varied length welded together in the shape of a tree. Called "rain wands," they were utilized by Mumuye shamans in rain-making ceremonies where they would place the points in small holes dug into the earth, and symbolically petition the gods for rain. Adolfo Bartolomucci, African Currency (Milan, 2012), p. 44, considers them to have also been a form of currency.
