Desirable Pre-World War II Winchester Model 70 Bolt Action Rifle in Rare 7 x 57 Mauser

Manufactured in 1940 in the very rare and desirable "7 M/M" or commonly termed the 7 x 57mm caliber. This caliber was introduced by Winchester in 1937 and discontinued in 1949. The standard production was very limited and is one of the most difficult calibers to locate today. This Model 70 is a standard rifle with a 24 inch barrel featuring a hooded ramp front sight and an elevation adjustable rear sight. The left side of the barrel has standard Winchester markings followed by "7 M/M" with the right side having the two line address marking. The Winchester factory proof is located on the breech end of the barrel and receiver. The receiver is tapped for scope/sight mounting and has a polished bolt which is numbered to the gun. The rifle has a pre-war safety and cloverleaf receiver tang. The pistol grip stock is checkered and has sling swivels and a checkered flat steel buttplate.
