Desirable Pre-World War II 1936 Dated Luftwaffe Contract Krieghoff Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Matching Magazine

This is a desirable pre-war Krieghoff Luger that was manufactured by the Heinrich Krieghoff company in 1936. In 1936 the H. Krieghoff company manufactured the largest serial number block of Krieghoff Lugers with only 2,500 with the full "1936" date over the chamber area. The Krieghoff Luger was the only Luger pistol officially contracted for the Luftwaffe throughout WWII. They have always been highly sought after as one of the more desirable Lugers due their excellent fit, finish and bluing. The chamber is dated 1936 with the front toggle marked with the C-1 die markings of "H, Anchor, K over KRIEGHOFF/SUHL". This die has the slightly flat bottom "U" in SUHL, with the left tip of the anchor outside the bottom leg of the "H". The right side of the barrel extension has the Luftwaffe/Krieghoff "Eagle/2" and Eagle" acceptance and firing proofmarks. The underside of the barrel has the bore diameter/smaller "Eagle/2" firing proof over the small size full serial number. The side of the breechblock and toggle assembly are proofed with the Luftwaffe/Eagle acceptance proofs. It is fitted with a set of late production coarse checkered Mauser plastic grips. The backs of the grips have no markings other than the mold marks. This pistol is complete with a single nickel plated magazine with the aluminum base that is marked with an "Eagle/2" Luftwaffe proof over 4932".

Fine with 70% of the faded original blue finish overall. The small parts are restored with most of the straw color remaining. The grips are excellent with nice checkering on both sides, with minimal handling marks overall. This scarce 1936 dated Krieghoff Luger has all matching numbers to include the magazine as noted. This is a solid representative example of a highly desirable P.08 Krieghoff Luger pistol.
