Desirable Pre-War Krieghoff S Code Luger Rig
This is a nice example of an early Krieghoff "S" code pre-war Luger as manufactured in limited quantities for the Luftwaffe. This Luger is marked with the "S-Code" over the chamber which was the secret wartime code indicating manufacture in 1935.The pistol has a very low serial number "663" with the early features such as the early B-2 variation marked toggle that has only the "H & K" marked on each side of the Krieghoff Anchor with only the word "SUHL", marked below that. The blade is symmetrical and the points of the anchor nearly touch the outer edge of the letters "H" and "K" and the word "SUHL" is slightly slants to the right with the flat bottom on the letter "U". If you look closely this toggle actually has the right lower section of the anchor missing, which was the common problem with the earlier B-1 style die. It has the typical military style serial number placement with the full serial number "663" on the front of the frame and the left side of the barrel extension with the last two digits on the side plate, front and rear toggle assembly, trigger and take down lever. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with the early LWaA 1st -stage 1 early Luftwaffe acceptance proof followed by the Luftwaffe test proof and small "eagle/2" proof. The underside of the barrel is marked only with the bore diameter and the early Eagle "Eagle/2" acceptance proof. The pistol is fitted with the correct early style Krieghoff checkered walnut grips that has the slightly trapezoidal/flat top checkered pattern that are correctly not numbered or proofed on the backs. The pistol is complete with two Krieghoff magazines; one has the early style stamped and rolled/crimped nickel plated magazine body with the aluminum base that has serial number "880" stamped on it with a single up side down "Eagle / 2" proof above the serial number. The spare magazine is the next style that has the extruded body that is unmarked that has an unnumbered aluminum base, (the number was removed). The base only carries a single "Luftwaffe/Eagle 2" proof with a small "+". These Krieghoff lugers have the distinctive, high polish blue finish with the straw colored small parts. This luger is complete with an early black military style holster that has a single "Luftwaffe Eagle/2" proof on the inside against the back of the holster, along with a small makers mark on the left side that consists of; "HEGER & LINDE/SCHMALKALDEN/1936".
