Desirable Post World War I Weimar Era DWM 1920/1916 Double Date Police Rework Luger Rig

This is an example of a matching serialized Weimar era 1920 Commercial/Police rework/reissue Luger pistol rig. As noted this example still retains both matching magazines, with a matching numbered holster and matching take down tool. Interestingly this luger is also still chambered in the early 7.65 mm Luger cartridge and was not converted to 9mm as most were in the mid 1920s. This was originally a 1916 dated DWM Artillery Luger as it still retains the small cut on the front edge of the barrel extension for the Artillery rear sight, after WWI it was converted to a standard 1920 commercial where it was rebarreled to the current 7.65mm cartridge and was reproofed with the "Crown/N" commercial proofs on several parts. It was then turned in under the Treaty of Versailles and restamped 1920 over the chamber area. At that time it was probably converted/reissued as a Police Luger during the Weimar era, where it was fitted with the magazine safety, and now only retains the spring bar over the side plate. The front grip strap has been Police remarked twice as follows; "S.L.Pol. 42 66" which was all "X"-ed out and remarked on the lower area: "S.P.L.". As noted the chamber is marked: "1920/1916" with the front toggle marked "DWM". The right side of the barrel extension still retains the three "Crown/Gothic letter" proofs with the "Crown/N" commercial proof marks on the right side of the barrel, barrel extension, frame, toggle and top of the breech block. It still retains the military style serial number placement with the standard safety area and extractor markings. As noted both magazines are correctly Police Numbered in an early manner with: "Eagle/6/Circled S" Simson Proof over "598/I" and "Eagle/6/Circled S" Simson Proof over "598/II". The holster was a standard military style holster that was converted to a Police version, which had an unreadable makers mark on the inside of the flap, that is numbered "598" on the back. As noted it still has its original takedown tool that is also stamped "598".
