Manufactured from 1875 to 1912. These factory engraved Third Model derringers are the "High Hammer" Variation, with the large italicized "-COLT-" on top of the barrel. The pistols feature floral scroll engraving with a punch dot background on the barrel and frame with a scallop border around the muzzle, scallop and simple line bordering on the frame and a simple line and scallop design on the backstrap. There is a feather design on the front sides of the frame. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel lug and on the left side of the frame under the grip. The left side of the frame is also marked with the number "4". The barrel is finished blue, casehardened trigger and hammer and silver plated brass frame. Blade front sight, smooth trigger, checkered hammer and fitted with smooth varnished rosewood grips. Complete in a leatherette case with chamois lining and 18 original 41 caliber rimfire cartridges, with "U" head stamp.

Condition: Very fine. The barrel retains 60% of the original blue finish mixed with smooth gray patina. The frame retains scattered (20%) original silver plating with an aged patina on the exposed brass. The grips are near new with only the slightest handling marks and almost all of the bright niter blue remains on the screw. The marking and engraving are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The case is good with some heavy wear on the outside and staining on the lining.

Described in "A", except has two crown proofs ("GP" and "V") on the bottom of the barrel.

Condition: Fine. The barrel has a smooth mottled brown patina. The frame retains 70% of the original silver plating on the frame with most of the loss of finish on the grip straps and high points, with a dark aged patina on the exposed brass. The grips are very fine with almost all of the original varnish, some high edge wear and overall scattered minor dings and handling marks. The engraving and marking are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
