Manufactured from 1881 to 1891, this rifle features a heavy octagon barrel marked "GEO. C. SCHOYEN DENVER COLO." on the top flat near the breech. The barrel is fitted with a false muzzle, spirit lever globe front sight and scope mount bases. The barrel is fitted with a 30 1/4 inch telescopic sight mounted on two of the three blocks. The left side of the receiver is marked "J.M. MARLIN NEW HAVEN U.S.A./BALLARD'S PATENT NOV 5, 1861". The serial number is marked on the front underside of the frame. There is a mid range Vernier peep sight and Schoyen double set triggers. Mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut Schnabel forearm with palm rest and straight grip stock with raised comb, cheek piece and nickel plated brass Schuetzen buttplate. The No. 5 style lever has been modified with the addition of a nickel plated three finger grip extension. The rifle comes with a canvas covered wooden case, a bullet seater, primer seater, bullet mold, a luber and a Ideal No. 6 powder measure.

Extremely fine as Schoyen custom built. The barrel has 70% smooth brown custom finish remaining. The receiver retains 90% bright case colors. The lever is a mix of faded original case colors and a smooth gray patina. The scope is good with 40% original thin blue finish mixed with a smooth gray patina. Most of the nickel plating remains on the buttplate with wear limited to the ends of the prongs. The optics are clear. The wood is excellent with a few minor dings and handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is fine. The wooden case is good with some wear and numerous scuffs. The lining shows some wear and material loss. The accessories are all good or better.
