Manufactured in 1883. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, the left side has the very desirable "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" etched panel and the left side of the frame is marked with the three line, three patent dates. The upper left front of the trigger guard is marked "44 CF" and the bottom of the barrel is marked "44" just ahead of the cylinder pin. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap, with the assembly number "2525" on the loading gate. The backstrap is inscribed "J FITCH" in block letters. The revolver has the early oval ejector rod head and hammer with elongated checkering on the spur. This is one of the last Single Action Army Revolvers fitted with walnut grips before the introduction of the hard rubber eagle grips in 1882-83. All nickel finish with a blade front and frame notch rear sights. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber and finish, with the barrel length and grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 of 200 to Hartley & Graham, N.Y., N.Y. on June 14, 1883. There is another Colt Single Action Army etched panel revolver in this auction with the same configuration that was in the same shipment.
