Desirable Holland & Holland Hammerless Side Lock Double Rifle with Case

This is a nice example of a Holland & Holland double rifle. The barrels are chambered for the 30 Super flanged cartridge and feature a folding ivory bead front sight on a raised ramp and a two leaf (one folding) rear sight on a matte quarter rib. The front blade sight has been cut down. The top of the right barrel near the breech is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" and "98 NEW BOND STREET LONDON" on the left. The barrel flats are marked with various British proof marks and each barrel is numbered to the gun. The receiver and side locks have a scallop engraved border with the underside marked "30 SUPER/FLANGED/CARTRIDGE" and each side plate is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND". The barrels and trigger guard are blue with casehardened remaining parts. Double triggers, tang mounted automatic safety with gold "SAFE" and mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a cheek piece, grip compartment with extra front sight numbered to the gun, solid recoil pad, silver initial oval and sling swivels. Directly behind the pistol grip is stamped "611". Comes with a hard leather takedown case with brass corner protectors, leather handle and a green felt lining with a leather Holland & Holland label affixed to the inside of the lid.

Excellent. The barrels retain 50% original blue finish mixed with smooth plum patina and a broken front sight blade. The trigger guard retains 98% original blue finish. The receiver and locks retain 85% bright original case colors with some thinning to gray. The wood is very good with most of the original varnish remaining, and showing a few minor dings and scratches. The recoil pad has flattened some and hardened with age. The markings are clear. Mechanically fine. The case is very good with some minor marks and the straps are absent.
