This U.S. Model 1841 percussion rifle was manufactured by the U.S. Armory at Harpers Ferry, Virginia in 1853 and was rebored to .58 caliber prior to the Civil War. The barrel bands, side plate, trigger guard, patch box and buttplate are brass. Blade and notch sights. The lock plate is marked "HARPERS / FERRY / 1853" vertically behind the hammer with the eagle and shield motif stamped ahead of it. The black walnut stock has an oil finish and has the inspectors initials "J.L.P." stamped on left side.

Condition: Very good. The rifle has a smooth dark brown patina overall. There is some minor pitting with even pitting on the lock plate. The brass has been polished and has some pin point pitting. The stock is also very good with some minor dings, scratches, and pressure marks. Mechanically fine.
