Desirable Early Production Krieghoff "S" Code Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Holster

This is a very nice example of an early Krieghoff "S" code pre-war Luger that was manufactured in limited quantities for the Luftwaffe. Marked with the "S-Code" over the chamber indicating manufactured in 1935. The pistol has a very low serial number "663", and the early features such as the B-2 variation marked toggle with the "H & K" marked on each side of the Krieghoff Anchor and only the word "SUHL" marked below that. The blade is symmetrical and the points of the anchor nearly touch the outer edge of the letters "H" and "K", with "SUHL" slightly slanted to the right and the flat bottom on the letter "U". If you look closely this toggle actually has the right lower section of the anchor missing, which was the common problem with the earlier B-1 style die. It has the typical military style serial number placement with the full serial number "663" on the front of the frame and the left side of the barrel extension, and the last two digits "63" on the side plate, front and rear toggle assembly, trigger and takedown lever. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with the early LWaA 1st -Stage early Luftwaffe acceptance proof followed by the Luftwaffe test proof and small "eagle/2" proof. The underside of the barrel is marked with the bore diameter and the early Eagle "Eagle/2" acceptance proof. The pistol is fitted with the correct early style Krieghoff checkered walnut grips that have the slightly trapezoidal/flat top checkered pattern. They are correctly un-numbered or proofed on the backs. The magazine is nickel with an aluminum base marked with an "eagle/2" proof and the serial number "633". Complete with a black military style leather flap holster marked with an "eagle/2" proof mark and "H. EGER & LINDE/SCHMALKALDEN/1936" on the inside.

Excellent. The pistol retains 95% original blue finish with wear on the edges and high spots. There is one small area of pin-prick pitting on the right frame rail just behind the "LWaA2" proof. The various small parts retain 60% of their straw colors. The grips are fine with a chip absent just under the safety lever, showing some normal minor handling wear and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically fine. The holster is good overall with most of the original black color having faded and rubbed off on the front, the top of the flap and the magazine pouch, and shows some minor flex cracking and scuffs. The markings inside are clear and distinct. A very nice example of an early "S" code Krieghoff Luger pistol.
