This is a fine example of a Remington Model 1875 Single Action Army Revolver. Remington manufactured approximately 25-30,000 Model 1875 Revolvers between 1875 and 1889. The top of the barrel is marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILLION. N.Y. U.S.A." , the serial number, "478" is marked on the left side of the butt under the grip. Pinched blade front and frame notch rear sights, lanyard stud and ring on the butt, blue finish with casehardened hammer, nickel plated trigger guard and fitted with smooth two-piece walnut grips. This revolver was Remington's attempt to compete with Colt's Single Action Army, however lacked the advantage of Colt's early start in Government sales.
