Desirable DWM Model 1906 M2 Marked Portuguese Army Contract Luger Pistol with Holster

This example is an early commercial contract model made specifically for the Royal Portuguese Army with approximately 5,000 made in total. The chamber area is marked with the "Royal Portuguese Crown" over the intertwined "M2" marking of Manuel II of Portugal, with the standard DWM logo on the front toggle. The left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel are marked with the Portuguese acceptance proof that consists of a small triangle inside a circle. This series of Luger has the first model polished lower safety on the frame with the extractor marked "CARREGADA". It correctly has grip safety and no stock lug. The grips are checkered walnut versions and the magazine is nickel plated with the wooden base. This example is complete with a first pattern Portuguese black leather holster with the two pouches on the side for the steel handled, brass cleaning rod and small pin-punch (both included).

Very fine overall with 80% of the blue finish with edge and high spot with thinning and oxidation on the grip straps. The various small parts retain 20% of their straw colors. The grips are good with nice original checkering on both sides with wear across the tops of the checkering intermixed with handling marks and a pressure dent on the upper right grip. The holster is good with nice tight stitching overall, however showing scrapes of the leather surface and age cracking overall on the face of the leather with a small square area cut out on the upper/inside area of the holster (it's not visible from the outside).
