Desirable DWM Model 1906-20 Swiss Contract Luger Pistol

This is a very fine example of an early Swiss Commercial Luger that falls within the serial number range and letter suffix (i) of those sold by the Abercrombie and Fitch Co. in New York. These were early commercial Lugers intended for sale in Switzerland, however with the huge demand in the U.S., DWM diverted a small quantity was diverted from the Swiss contract to their U.S. agent, Abercrombie & Fitch Co., in New York. Short frame, 1906 style grip safety, no stock lug and is correctly marked "GELADEN" on the extractor, with the first pattern polished lower safety area. The chamber is marked with the standard "Swiss Cross in A Sunburst" which indicates a commercial contract Luger and the front toggle has the DWM markings. The front of the frame is stamped with the serial number "2087i", with "2087" stamped on the barrel and barrel extension with the last two digits "87" stamped on the small parts. Unmarked wooden based nickel magazine.

Very fine with 90% of the faded blue finish remaining with wear on all the edges and high spots, with thinning on the center section of the barrel. The various small parts retain 30% of their straw colors overall. The grips are very fine with nice original distinct checkering on both sides and a couple of very minor handling marks.
