Desirable DWM Model 1893 Borchardt Semi-Automatic Pistol with Shoulder Stock and Leather Holster

This is a beautiful example of an original 1893 Borchardt semi-automatic pistol with the original walnut stock/leather holster rig as manufactured by the DWM factory. The original combination walnut stock/leather holster is complete with the original metal attaching iron, cheekpiece and leather straps. The overall condition and originality of the pistol itself is exceptional with a nice dark rust blue finish on the metal parts with excellent heat blue finish on the smaller parts. These 1893 Borchardt pistols were the true forerunner of the world famous and historic Luger pistol in that it employed the unique toggling breech mechanism, which was eventually adopted and refined by Georg Luger. This toggle design was used throughout production of the Luger pistol from 1900 through 1942. The right side of the barrel extension is marked in three lines "SYSTEM BORCHARDT. PATENT./DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN,/BERLIN." with the top of the toggle mechanism carrying the German patent markings of "D.R.P./No. 75837". The left side of the breechblock, toggle mechanism and barrel extension all have the early German commercial proofs of a "Crown over B and U" proofs, with the left rear section of the barrel marked with the full German commercial proofs, consisting of the "Crown over B, U, and G" proofs over "172,28". It is fitted with the original checkered walnut grips along with the original varnished border around the checkered center panel of each grip. The original walnut shoulder stock is complete with the original blue attaching mechanism, along with the original black leather holster still attached to the stock with the original leather straps. The pistol is missing the extractor (which is probably why it remained in such exceptional condition) and the magazine.

Nearly excellent (missing extractor) with 98% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear. The smaller parts retain 98% of their heat treated blue finish. The walnut grips are excellent, with nearly all of the original varnish around the edges with nice original and sharp checkering in the middle with only a couple minor handling marks. The walnut stock is excellent with the original finish showing only a couple of very minor handling marks on the exposed side with 98% of the blue finish on the attaching iron. The leather holster is in outstanding condition with 98% of the black leather finish overall with just a hint of flaking on the side in a couple of spots. The leather straps show some of the black leather finish having flaked off over the years. The small head for the screw that holds on the cheekpiece has broken off, which could be easily replaced. A really nice exceptionally high condition 1893 Borchardt semi-automatic pistol and shoulder stock rig.
