Desirable DWM "American Eagle" Navy Luger with A. F. Stoeger/New York Retailer Markings

This is an example of an A.F. Stoeger Commercial Contract DWM "American Eagle" Navy variation Luger pistol with the full A.F. Stoeger frame and barrel extension markings. These American Eagle Lugers were the very first Stoeger Lugers made expressly by DWM under contract for the Stoeger Arms Company in New York for import into the United States with many of these early Lugers were originally based on 1920 Commercial luger with an original Navy barrel installed by DWM. These early A.F. Stoeger marked Lugers are very rare today, especially the Navy and Artillery variations, in this original high end condition; of the two modes, the "Navy" model is by far the rarest and very seldom seen! The chamber is marked with the American Eagle crest with the DWM logo on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the milled markings of "GERMANY" next to "A.F. STOEGER, INC./NEW YORK.", and an unmarked right side frame rail. It is correctly marked "GESICHERT" and "LOADED" in the safety area and extractor respectively for this variation. The pistol is stamped in the commercial serial number fashion with the front of the frame stamped with the full serial number "7875o" with no number on the underside of the barrel or barrel extension. With the underside of the barrel stamped with only a small single "Crown/M" Commercial proof. It has the last two digits "75" on the underside of the side plate, takedown lever and trigger with no other parts being numbered. It is complete with one early nickel plated magazine with an unmarked wooden base. The pistol has an attractive original blue finish with straw colored small components and checkered walnut grips.
