This is an excellent example of a late WWII Japanese Type 99 sniper rifle manufactured by the Nagoya arsenal, that is equipped with the very rare externally adjustable 4X rifle scope, and is consecutively numbered to the gun below. The rifle has a late production model adjustable tangent rear sight without the antiaircraft wings with the peep and inverted 'V' front sight with the guards. There are o provisions for the monopod, and it has the one-piece front barrel band. The top of the receiver ring has the chrysanthemum lightly struck and not ground. Directly behind that is the Kanji markings for "Type 99". The rear receiver ring has the Nagoya arsenal proof over the serial number (8204). It has the correct turned down Type 99 sniper bolt that is completely matching. The rifle is fitted with a late war style stock with no drain hole, a cupped buttplate and side mounted sling swivels. The scope is the first pattern externally adjustable version that is marked on the rear portion of the scope tube, 4 X 7/manufacturers symbol/ No.16590. The lower left side of the mount has several Kanji markings and the rear locking plate is numbered 8120. The reticule has the large grid pattern cross-hairs pattern calibrated for 500-1400 yards.

Condition: Excellent overall with 98% of the original factory blue finish with light edge and high spot wear overall. The stock and handguards are also both in excellent condition with minimal handling marks with a light tone to the wood, which may indicate it was lightly cleaned but not sanded. The scope retains 95% of the original black painted finish with very good optics and reticule. This rifle is consecutively serialized to another in this auction (8205)!
