Desirable Colt Model 1911A1 National Match Semi-Automatic Pistol Sold to Von Lengerke and Antoine with Colt Factory Documentation

This is a highly desirable prewar Colt Model 1911A1National Match pistol as sold in 1937 through the Von Lengerke and Antoine Company in Chicago Ill. These early National Match pistols usually were manufactured with rather basic enhancements as compared to todays firearms, however they always shot exceptionally well. The improvements included the hand fitting of the slide and frame, for a close tight fit, then mating them to special selected barrel, and then hand honing all the internal/critical parts to provide a super smooth, glass like action. As noted this specific pistol includes a Colt factory letter dated 1997, indicating that this was one of a 2 gun shipment to the early sporting goods/outlet store of Von Lengerke and Antoine in Chicago. Colt began production of the National Match Government Model .45 in 1932, with a very limited number actually produced before the outbreak of WWII. This beautiful pistol has the high polish commercial blue finish, blued barrel with polished chamber, full checkered walnut grips and two-tone magazine. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the elongated, two line, Hartford address and 1897-1913 patent dates, with the right side marked "NATIONAL MATCH COLT" in one line, followed by "AUTOMATIC/CALIBER.45" in two lines and the Rampant Colt trademark. The right side of the frame is marked, "GOVERNMENT MODEL" above the serial number (C185479) with a number "38" on the upper front edge of the trigger guard bow, with the left side marked with a "P" assembler's mark above the Colt "VP/Triangle" proofmark. The slide is correctly stamped with the matching serial number under the firing pin stop. The left side of the barrel lug is stamped with the encircled letters "M.B." with "COLT 45 AUTO MATCH" directly above that on the barrel. There is a capital "G" Colt provisional inspector stamp on top of the frame by the disconnector hole. The feed ramp is polished bright. The half-tone magazine is marked "COLT/45 AUTO" on the floor plate.
