Manufactured circa 1912. Colt manufactured approximately 18,000 of the Military Model 1902 between 1902 and 1929. The pistol has the rear slide serrations, rounded rear sight, checkered casehardened spur hammer, squared grip, 8 round magazine and casehardened lanyard loop on the lower left side of the frame. The pistol is fitted with black checkered hard rubber grips with "COLT" in a banner at the top and circled Rampant Colt in the center. The pistol has the high polish commercial blue finish, niter blue screws, rear sight, slide pin and trigger, blue barrel and unmarked blue magazine. The right side of the slide is marked: "AUTOMATIC COLT / CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS". The opposite side of the slide is marked "PATENTED/ APR. 20. 1897, SEPT. 9. 1902." in a two line block followed by "COLT'S PATENT F.A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A.". The Rampant Colt motif is stamped on the left rear of the slide. Complete with rare original maroon Colt cardboard box with end label and papers including the pamphlet "Romance of a Colt" dated the 15th of October 1921.

Condition: Excellent. The slide retains 99% of the bright original high polish blue finish with minor edge wear and scratches overall. The barrel shows 97% of the original blue with only minor thinning. The frame retains 95% of the bright original high polish blue finish with scattered nicks and spotting on the grip straps. The trigger retains 75% of the original niter blue with some thinning and a gray patina on the trigger face. All markings are crisp. Grips are excellent with only light handling marks and have aged to an attractive deep brown color. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with the original end label and some tape repairs.
