Desirable Colt Model 1871-72 Open Top revolver, .44 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, Navy size wood grips, #351. This gun is in overall very good condition showing an old cleaning to metal surfaces with traces of blue in protected areas and scattered case colors on frame with strong case colors in the loading cut-out of the frame. There are some scattered small areas of pin prick pitting confined primarily to the barrel, all visible serial numbers are matching, the cylinder scene is fully visible, the bore is overall good, the action crisp and the markings are sharp. The brass straps show a light patina and the grips are very good with some wear to the varnish finish and some scattered scratches and mars but nothing objectionable. A difficult Colt to find in any condition as there were only 7,000 of these guns produced for two years and were the first Colt revolvers produced exclusively for a metallic cartridge (not a conversion). Est.: $4,000-$8,000.
