Desirable 1st Year Production Colt Model 1849 Pocket London Percussion Revolver

Manufactured in 1853 at the Colt London Armory. The top barrel flat is marked "SAML COLT. LONDON." flanked by finials. Pair of British proofs on the barrel lug, with the proofs alternating between the cylinder chambers. Cylinder has the stagecoach holdup scene and the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side. Matching numbers on the wedge, cylinder, loading lever, barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap. Seldom encountered silver plated brass trigger guard and back strap. Fitted with a one piece grip.

Period retailer refurbished with 20% of the blue finish remaining. The barrel retains scattered strong amounts of blue (more concentrated on the bottom flat) with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The cylinder retains scattered traces of blue with the balance a smooth brown patina. Most of the cylinder scene remains. The frame has a mixed dark patina. The trigger guard and back strap retain 80% original silver plating. The slightly oversized grip is fine with some minor scratches and some scattered minor pressure dents.
