Desirable 1938 Dated Single Digit Serial Number "3" (d) "S/42" Mauser Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Two Matching Magazines

This is a beautiful example of an original 1938 date "S/42" Mauser Luger with all matching numbers to include both magazines, that have has a very desirable single digit serial number "3". Although these single digit serial numbered Lugers were manufactured in every letter series, in every year they are always considered scarce and desirable and always command a high price. This example has the "1938" chamber date with the secret wartime code of "S/42" on the front toggle. It has the standard Mauser factory "Eagle/63" Waffenamt and proofmarks. It is numbered in the military manner with the full serial number (3d) on the front of the frame and both magazines with serial number "3" on all other parts, including both magazines. The safety area and extractor are marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. All blue finish, fixed sights, fitted with checkered walnut grips and comes with two blue Type III Army magazines with the aluminum pinned base marked in a police fashion "1/3" and "2/3" on the bases.

Excellent. The pistol retains 90% plus of the original blue finish showing some edge and high spot wear and some slight thinning on the grip straps. The grips are very fine with some minor handling marks and some light wear across the top of the otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
