Although these single digit serial number Lugers were produced in every letter series in every year they are always considered scarce and desirable and always command a high price. This example has the "1938" chamber with the secret wartime code of "S/42" on the front toggle. It has the standard Mauser factory "Eagle/63" Waffenamt and proofmarks. It is numbered in the military manner with the full serial number (3d) on the front of the frame and both magazines with serial number "3" on all the parts, to include both magazines. The safety area and extractor are marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. It is fitted with two, blued, type three Army magazines with the aluminum pinned base marked in a police fashion with "1/3" and "2/3" on the bases.
