Depression Scrip: Feb 6, 1935 Letter with name cut-out "Dear Sir: We enclose a cancelled specimen of the scrip book which you requested in your letter of January 30. This book was issued during the national bank holiday (March 2, 1933 to March 14, 1933) to assist students who were temporarily without funds to purchase books, school supplies and food, and were redeemable only on presentation at University enterprises auch as the Student's Cafe and Bookstore. Students purchased these books by presenting personal checks drawn on their respective accounts. The checks were held by the Univeristy until the banks reopened. The total issued amounted to $927.00.
