Lot of 2. 1) Special order no. 84, Head Quarters, Department of Texas, San Antonio, May 29, 1874, directing a board of officers from the 24th Infantry to proceed to Brazos Santiago "for the purpose of fixing a moderate tariff of wharfage which will insure a sufficient fund to keep the Government wharf at Brazos Santiago in repair..." Signed by Lt. William James as Post Adjutant at Fort Brown. James was an 1872 West Point graduate. 2) Additional document signed by Captain AS Kimball, Asst. Quartermaster, acknowledging receipt of seven dollars for travel to Brazos Santiago & return, June 25th, 1874. Kimball served in the 98th New York volunteers in the Civil War.
