"Dear Subscriber" letter typed via typewriter. Letter has vignette of mountain scene with Native American holding bow, arrow and shield. Shield has "Stanley Wood, Editor Denver, Colorado" printed inside. "The Great Divide" printed in heavy black at top of vignette (capital Nouveau style typeface.) Includes cover sent to Buel Latcher. Edinburgh, NY. One single ring seal. April 23, 1891. Denver, CO. One red 2 cent cancelled stamp. "The best dollar monthly in the world" printed at bottom of cover. Also includes three additional printed papers: 1) fancy image (3" x 6.5") of roper with rifle on horse. Blue tint. 2) Repeated image of roper but as second cut (less contrast) in same pose. Blue tint. 3) "The Royal Gorge" printed at top. Repeated image of roper (same cut as 2) this time printed in black. Fine.
