Deluxe number 3F Ballard fine gallery rifle, fitted with factory special order fancy walnut stocks, checkered at the pistol grip and forend, .22 short rimfire caliber, 28” barrel, serial number 34231”. The rifle is fitted with a Marlin mid range vernier peep sight and a beech combination front sight. Pictured in Ballard, The Great American Single Shot Rifle by John Dutcher, page number 129, illustration 14-2. The rifle shows mounts for scope, which is no longer with the rifle. The original rear sight dovetail is filled with a blank. The barrel shows approx. 80-90% original blue which is thinning and toning. Some minor scratches, minor erosion and normal aging just starting. The frame shows 50-70% case hardening with some strong and vibrant colors on the top of the frame and right side. The left side is dulling and drifting slightly. The fancy walnut checkered stocks are very good plus to near fine with sharp checkering, with 80-90% varnish, some minor scratches, dings and mars, but at least very good plus overall. The action is good, the bore is excellent. Est.: $1,750-$3,500.
