Deluxe engraved set of Smith & Wesson revolvers in superb French-style leather-covered exhibition quality case. The set consists of a first model, second issue .22 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver that is finely New York style deluxe scroll engraved with gold-plated finish, varnish wood grips, serial #13789 and a Smith & Wesson model 1, third issue .22 caliber revolver, also New York style deluxe scroll engraved, gold wash, with varnish wood grips, serial #72269. The pair are contained within their original to the period French-style red velveteen lined fitted wood case which shows embossed decorations in lid and on edges of compartment covers. The interior of the case is in very good to near fine condition showing just some slight fading fraying and normal aging. The case is Moroccan leather measuring approx. 2-3/8” in depth with brass mounting and brass studs. The exterior of the case is in very good to near fine condition. This exquisite little set was found in the family of a diplomat in France approx. two years ago and was obtained by a noted Eastern collector at the Denver gun show. A very deluxe and unusual set that very well may have been may for a foreign exhibition and Smith & Wesson had a great market in Europe and particularly in France. Est: $6,000 - $12,000
