Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 1894
Manufactured in 1902, this Model 1894 Takedown rifle is loaded with special order features. This rifle is fitted with an extra light weight taped 24 inch octagon barrel with matted top flat, Lyman leaf rear and Marbles tang mounted peep sight, deluxe 2x walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with Style H checkering and shotgun butt and 1/2 magazine. Very few of the extra light octagon barrels were found on these rifles with the norm being the round barrels and it is estimated that only 1 of every approximately 750 Model 94s had a pistol grip stock. The front sight is a Winchester express blade and according to the factory letter the rifle has been sighted for 100 yards. The upper left barrel flat is marked with the two line address ahead of the rear sight and the two line nickel steel/smokeless powder marking and "30W.C.F." are on the upper left rear. The upper tang marking is covered by the tang sight and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and lever, and there is a hard rubber grip cap and checkered hard rubber shotgun buttplate on the stock. The accompanying factory letter verifies the extra light weight 24 inch matted barrel takedown rifle configuration, caliber, plain trigger, oil finished checkered pistol grip stock, Lyman leaf and rear sights, 1/2 magazine, shotgun butt and buttplate, that it was received in the warehouse on July 18, 1902 and shipped with two other guns to order number T103224 on October 18, 1902.

Very fine. The rifle retains 50% plus original blue finish with thinning and edge wear on the barrel, edge wear and areas of smooth gray and brown patina on the receiver and a smooth gray patina on the takedown ring. The hammer and lever retain 25% original case colors with a smooth mottled gray patina on the balance. The wood is also very good with a small chip on the toe of the stock, and overall some minor dents and light scratches, with crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine. A very fine example of a Deluxe Winchester Model 1894 documented with special order features ordered by an individual who obviously knew exactly what they wanted.
