Deluxe Factory engraved and inscribed Colt Single Action Army revolver, .38 Special cal., 7-1/2" barrel, blue and case hardened finish, Colt medallion ivory grips, #354497. This gun is in overall near mint condition showing extra deluxe coverage of engraving on the barrel, frame, cylinder, ejector rod housing, back strap and trigger guard. The back strap is also finely knurled as is the rear strap of the trigger guard with "Fred Crory" inscribed on the butt strap. The factory ivory grips are excellent and fit the gun impeccably. Two factory letters are included; one dated April 21, 1966 and the other dated December 3, 2004. Both indicate for this serial number a 7-1/2" blued and ivory stocked SAA with the name "Fred Crory" engraved on the butt, .38 Colt caliber and sold and shipped to Fred Crory in Detroit, Michigan on April 23, 1932 in a shipment of one gun. The 2004 letter also notes that the gun was factory order #11184/1. It also, under "Remarks" indicates "There is conflicting information given in the records regarding subject revolver in that the production book indicates this arm was factory engraved and the shipping record does not make mention of this additional feature. As a consequence, we are at a loss to confirm or deny this piece of information". It is definitely our opinion that this Colt Single Action Army was defiantly factory engraved and that the production book is correct and an error was made in the shipping record. Which is common. An opportunity to own an outstanding and original Single Action Army well-known to serious Colt collectors. Est.: $40,000-$60,000.
