Produced circa 1859 - 1874. Brass post and breechblock groove rear sights, produced without extractor. Straight standing breech, with "C. SHARPS/ PATENT 1859" on the left side around the screw and "C. SHARPS & Co/ PHILADA. PA." on the right, showing extra fine scroll and engraving on the sides of the frame, a dog head and a screaming eagle on the right and left, respectively, of the breechblock, checkerboard patterns on the breechblock and butt, and a sunburst, wavy line borders, scrollwork and an oval inscription plate on the backstrap. Smooth two piece ivory grips. In a deluxe hardwood case with gilt finished brass hardware, blue velvet internal lining, "E. M. REILLY & Co/ LONDON" in gold inside the lit, a lidded internal compartment, silver oiler and ivory handled screwdriver and cleaning rod. Writer has never seen another panel scene engraved Sharps Derringer!

Condition: Very fine, showing 95% of the original blue, with areas of extremely fine pitting visible on the barrel. The frame retains 95% of the original silver, with areas of aged brass visible on the backstrap and towards the front. Ivory components are excellent, with a few thin age lines and attractive color. Case is fine, with minor scuffs and wear, both internal and external. Mechanically fine.
