Deluxe Factory Engraved Marlin Model 24 Slide Action Shotgun
Manufactured from 1908 to 1917, this Model 24 shotgun features an engraved oval panel on the left side of the receiver with four ducks in a marsh scene surrounded by simple scroll designs and zigzag border. The right side of the receiver has the same scroll design, the bolt has two quail and there is a floral design around the serial number. The left side of the barrel is marked ""SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL" above the two line address/patent dates and "12 GA." is marked at the breech. The upper tang is marked "Marlin MODEL No 24". Single bead sight and barrel chokes at extra full. Mounted with fancy checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a serrated hard rubber Marlin buttplate.

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 75% faded original finish which shows some thinning on the muzzle and breech ends. Almost all of the original thinning finish remains on the magazine tube ahead of the slide and the rear portion has a smooth gray patina. The receiver and bolt retain 40% original finish mixed with smooth gray patina. There is a large chip on the heel of the buttplate. The otherwise fine wood is revarnished with some scattered minor dings and dents and crisp checkering. The markings and engraving are clear. Mechanically excellent.
