Delicately designed French flintlock pistol by Roche of Paris, .62 cal., 18” overall with an 11” iron barrel with gold accenting to engraving on top of barrel, chiseled steel trigger guard, flared butt cap with raised portrait of a warrior; raised carved full length wood stock. This gun is in overall very good condition showing a dark patina to the barrel and gold inlay decoration that has been worn off in several areas; both barrel and lock plate are marked Roche of Paris; the action is crisp, the bore dark and the wood stock is in overall good condition showing scattered wear, nicks, mars and scratches from carry and storage; one nicely repaired section of wood at the top of the right wrist and an old repair to a crack on the right fore stock above the back ferrule; the iron tipped wood cleaning rod is retained and there is an exquisite chiseled maiden as part of the front of the trigger guard and an ogre’s head on the bottom of the trigger guard. Nicely accomplished and intricate metal vine work inlaid on the left side of the stock above the trigger assembly. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
