Delgado, James P. ADVENTURES OF A SEA HUNTER: IN SEARCH OF FAMOUS SHIPWRECKS. Douglas & McIntyre. 2004. 12mo, 230 pages; Hardcover w/ DJ; This book is based on the TV series, “The Sea Hunters”, which in turn is based on Clive Cussler’s underwater explorations (see #C-2530 and #C-2531). It includes the liners “Titanic” and “Carpathia”, the “Vrouw Maria” (which sank in 1771 carrying a cargo of art belonging to Catherine the Great), one of Kublai Khan’s warships that sank in 1281 in an assault on Japan, the “Artic Fox” (which Capt. Francis McClintock used to solve the disappearance of Sir John Franklin in the Arctic in 1845), the “Somers” (scene of the alleged mutiny by Philip Spencer in 1842 and his execution), the “General Harrison” (a gold rush steamer in San Francisco), a forgotten Civil War submarine that was located in Panamanian waters, and the German cruiser, “Dresden”, which was sunk off Chile in 1914 with an alleged load of gold coins. Also included are dives at Peral Harbor, Bikini Atoll, and in the flooded tunnels of a German concentration camp. Subject: History - Shipwrecks
