This is an original intake document from the Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge. The document was created when the convict was received at the prison. The document lists the prisoner as James Calvin Towers who was convicted of 1st degree murder in 1908. Towers was 21 when he entered the prison. Only a year prior, Towers was implicated in a train robbery just a few miles east of Butte, Montana when he held up a Great Northern train. The document states the murder happened on Homestake Hill which is just a few miles east of Butte. The bottom portion of the document shows a picture of Towers before he entered the prison and a picture while he was incarcerated. This is a fantastic historical Montana document. It shows good overall condition. The document measures 8.5" x 16.5".
