Measuring 9 1/2 inches long and 3 inches wide, the main body of the flask is made up of an ivory tusk, which is deeply carved over 95% of the surface. Fine scroll patterns are present overall, with one side bearing the coat of arms of the Marquis of Ile-de-France, over a bust of a gentleman, over a grotesque face, and the reverse showing the symbol of the Kingdom of Navarre over a marquess-crowned "AJ" monogram and another grotesque face. Fitted with a gold washed fluted spigot with spring loaded cover, a red and yellow cord tassel passed through 4 gold washed suspension rings, and a metal top and base with raised scrollwork and gold wash in the lower areas.
