The rectangular panel depicts a fierce Lion-Protector (Buddhist) at the right, and a worshipful Dakini (?) with 5-emblem crown and Naga-snake protector above her head, and a Lotus Pillar at the Left on which a saucer of Sacred Oil likely was kept. From the reverse it can be seen that the plaque is made from almost pure copper which is red enamel-coated on the front flan with the raised images well-gilt. 8 punched holes were used for attachment and the overall view of the artifact is of power and high craftsmanship. Reportedly from the tomb of a Liao Princess, the provenance of this piece will be provided to the buyer. A wonderful object of delight. The panel is 2" tall by about 6-1/2" wide.
