Manuscript DS, one page, 9.25 x 14.5, March 5, 1783. Ellery and three other Selectmen of Gloucester identify the names of more than a dozen individuals and declare “the following…names are ordered to pay into your for Soldier Tax.” Signed at the conclusion by Ellery, John Low, Barnett Warkin, and Joseph Allen. Document is displayed with a biographical paragraph and small photo then framed to an overall size of 15 x 18.25. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, bleeding of some of the ink, some mild toning, red pencil line under signature, and light show-through from docketing on the reverse.
