Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Rhode Island (1707–1785) and a delegate to the Continental Congress. Ink signature, “Step Hopkins,” on an off-white 3 x 1.25 slip. In fine condition, with light show-through from writing on reverse, as well as some adhesive remnants to reverse. In his 1995 reference History Comes to Life, Kenneth Rendell places Hopkins’s autograph material into the “rare” category among the Signers.
