Signer of the Declaration of Independence from New Hampshire (1729–1795). Manuscript DS, signed “Josiah Bartlett Chm,” one page, 5.75 x 2.5, April 9, 1777. Nomination document reads: “The Commitee from Both Houses appointed to nominat [sic] & beg leave to recommend the Revd Samuel Cotton of Litchfield for Chaplin & Capt. Benjamin Kimbal of Plaisto for pay master in Col. Cilley’s Regiment.” Document is inlaid to a 6.75 x 4.25 off-white sheet. In fine condition, with light show-through from docketing on reverse and a few light pencil notations.
