Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Virginia (1726 -1791). Harrison was the father of President William Henry Harrison and great-grandfather of President Benjamin Harrison. Manuscript DS, signed “Benj. Harrison,” one page, 6.5 x 4, April 8, 1783. Document certifying that Captain John C. Carter “is instilled to the proportion of land allowed as Captain of Artillery in the Virgina Continental line for seven years service.” Signed in the lower left by Governor Harrison. Suede matted and framed with a descriptive plaque, to an overall size of 14.5 x 18.25. Previous intersecting folds, rough edges, and a uniform shade of toning, otherwise fine condition.
