Declaration Signer William Floyd Document Signed "Wm. Floyd". One page, 8.25" x 8.5", manuscript, New York, April 3, 1784, certifying that "...the state of New York is indebted unto James Post and Zebulon Jessup in the sum of Three Hundred and Two pounds..." The document is in the autograph of Isaac Roosevelt, the great-great-grandfather of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and signed by Floyd, both acting as commissioners appointed "...for the procuring of money on loan and Clothing for the use of this state..." Jessup and Post sign the verso. William Floyd was a member of the Continental Congress, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and a U.S. congressman, all as a representative from New York. Document is lightly and evenly toned, signatures bold and clear, a bit weak at the folds, else very good. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.
