Declaration Signer Thomas Lynch Jr Personal Book Declaration Signer Thomas Lynch Jr.'s Copy of Rapin
Declaration Signer Thomas Lynch Jr.'s Copy of Rapin's History of England: From the Revolution to the Present Times. This book was published in 1763, in London, and was once owned by the Declaration of Independence signer Thomas Lynch Junior. His name was once present on the free front end paper, but has since been clipped out. Accompanying this book are several copies of the original signature and its place in the book itself. While the signature is missing, the ownership alone makes this book a treasure. Thomas Lynch Junior is one of the rarest of the Declaration Signers, second only to Button Gwinnett; he died shortly after the signing due to a shipwreck. Collectors of Declaration Signers know just how rare this signature can be. Lynch was the son of one of the most fervent Revolutionaries and a wealthy planter. He was elected to the Continental Congress after his father, who was also a delegate, suffered a stroke. He served throughout the summer and signed the Declaration.
