One page with integral address leaf, 7.5" x 12.5", Providence, August 9, 1770, to Aaron Lopez, merchant. Hopkins is ordering more yards of a silk previously secured from Lopez who was one of the most successful and respected Jewish merchants of the period. Hopkins signed the Declaration of Independence as a representative from Rhode Island. He was also a member of the Continental Congress 1774-1776. About very good condition; folds, general light foxing, a piece torn from right edge where opened (no text affected), wax seal still intact, old hinges present on verso. Purchased from Walter R.
