<B>Declaration Signer Richard Stockton Rare Autograph Document Signed.</B></I> Two pages, 7.5" x 12", Middlesex County, April Term, [1766]. A legal document by Stockton as attorney for the plaintiff, signed at the end as "<I>Rich Stockton</B></I>" and also in the body (third person) in full. Stockton signed the Declaration of Independence as a representative of New Jersey and was also a member of the Continental Congress in 1776. While on an inspection tour for the Congress, he was captured by the British and his poor treatment at their hands hastened his death which occurred in 1781 at age 50. Near Very Good condition, split at the middle fold, easily repaired. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
